Lead API Engineer

10 is currently seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Charlotte, NC. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

This is a senior-level role focused on backend engineering for advanced AI and data systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for building scalable, real-time API layers and backend services that expose AI and machine learning models for real-time enterprise consumption. This position works closely with data science teams to product ionize models and AI capabilities.

Responsibilities:

• Design and build scalable, real-time RESTful APIs to expose machine learning models and AI services
• Develop backend services that integrate AI/ML models into enterprise systems
• Create well-defined API contracts that enable downstream business applications to consume model outputs
• Build integration layers connecting models, data services, and enterprise platforms
• Work closely with data scientists and ML engineers to product ionize models
• Develop scalable backend services using Python or Go (preferred over Java)
• Manage service orchestration, error handling, and reliability patterns
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across APIs, integrations, and model-serving layers

Requirements:

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with a lead-level mindset
• Strong backend development experience in Golang or Python (preferred over Java)
• Experience building production-grade REST APIs and microservices
• Strong experience with containerized environments such as Kubernetes or Open Shift
• Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Experience with CI/CD and Git
• Data experience with SQL (Postgres, Oracle) and No
  
  SQL (MongoDB, Big Query, Redis)
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, service integrations, and API design
• Ability to work in highly complex, dependency-driven environments

Pay range: $53.28 - $61.28 per hour
