Salesforce Developer, Cloud Engineer - Software, Software Architect
Primary Purpose of Position
The Salesforce Senior Developer provides advanced technical design, development, and solution leadership across the University’s Salesforce platform. This position is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing scalable solutions that support UNC Charlotte’s enterprise Salesforce strategy, including Education Cloud, Service Cloud, Sales Cloud, Data Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Tableau Cloud, enterprise integrations (such as Mule Soft), and emerging AI-enabled capabilities. The role partners with business stakeholders and technical teams to translate complex business requirements into robust, maintainable technical solutions, supporting integrations and leveraging advanced technologies such as AI and automation to improve institutional effectiveness.
Summaryof Position Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy complex Salesforce solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components, Aura, SOQL/SOSL, and other platform technologies.
- Build scalable, reusable components and apply best practices for performance, security, and maintainability.
- Serve as a technical expert for Salesforce development, setting direction for complex solution design and resolving system issues.
- Lead development efforts for large‑scale Salesforce initiatives across multiple clouds and integrated systems.
- Translate business requirements into technical designs and implement solutions leveraging Flow, Platform Events, and asynchronous processing.
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture and data management practices.
- Develop and maintain integrations between Salesforce and external systems using APIs and middleware platforms such as Mule Soft.
- Design and implement advanced Salesforce capabilities, including AI‑driven features, automation, and analytics.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver solutions aligned with University priorities.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to team members.
- Contribute to enterprise architecture discussions and decisions, ensuring alignment with broader technology strategy.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least five years of Salesforce development experience, including Apex, Lightning Web Components, APIs, and data modeling.
- Experience designing and delivering solutions across multiple Salesforce clouds.
- Experience integrating Salesforce with external systems (Mule Soft, other middleware).
- Knowledge of Salesforce Data Cloud, Einstein AI, or related capabilities.
- Experience implementing Dev Ops practices and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Git, Copado, Gearset).
- Proficient in Agile or iterative delivery environments.
- Strong ability to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
- Salesforce certifications:
Platform Developer I/II, Application Architect, System Architect. - Experience with Salesforce Education Cloud or higher education implementations.
- Experience with Salesforce Experience Cloud implementations (Aura/LWR).
- Experience with Mule Soft or other enterprise middleware/integration platforms.
- Experience with Data Cloud, Einstein AI, or agent-based capabilities.
- Experience with Dev Ops tools (Git, Copado, Gearset).
