Akkodis is seeking several backend Java software engineers for a client in Charlotte, NC.

Rate Range: $55.00/hour to $62.00/hour; the rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy building scalable backend systems in enterprise environments, developing high-performance APIs, and working within a modern cloud-native environment. You will collaborate closely with architects, product owners, QA teams, and fellow developers to design, develop, test, and deploy solutions that support business-critical initiatives.

This is a hybrid role with 3 days in-office.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Build and support RESTful APIs and microservices that are secure, reliable, and scalable.
  • Develop cloud-ready applications and contribute to modernization initiatives.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
  • Create and execute unit, integration, and end-to-end test cases to ensure software quality.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Work closely with Dev Ops teams to support CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
  • Utilize tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Jenkins to streamline application delivery.
  • Optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to development best practices.
  • Create technical documentation and support knowledge-sharing initiatives across the team.
Required Qualifications
  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with a focus on backend development.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field is required.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
  • Experience developing and supporting microservices architectures.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful API design and development.
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops practices.
  • Hands‑on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Jenkins.
  • Experience working with at least one major cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Proficiency with Git and modern source control practices.
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL.
  • Strong understanding of object‑oriented programming principles and design patterns.
  • Experience creating, executing, and maintaining automated and manual test cases.
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with Teradata or other enterprise data warehousing platforms.
  • Experience building event-driven applications using Kafka or similar messaging technologies.
  • Knowledge of Lang Chain, Lang Graph, or other AI application orchestration frameworks.
  • Experience with No

    SQL databases such as MongoDB or DynamoDB.
  • Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools such as Splunk, ELK, Datadog, or Prometheus.
  • Experience working within highly regulated enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with secure coding practices and application security principles.
