Oracle PL SQL Developer

Rate: $65/hour on Apex’s W2

Four Oracle Developer openings are available. All positions are based in Charlotte, NC, with a hybrid schedule of 3 days a week. The contract duration is 12-18+ months. Candidates must be able to work on Apex’s W2 without sponsorship. There is a single round interview process.

Role Overview

Oracle PL/SQL development is the primary skill requirement and the biggest priority for these openings.
These are not maintenance-only positions. Developers will be expected to write new PL/SQL packages and solutions from scratch.
The team supports internal financial applications that collect data, generate reports, and manage complex business rules.
The environment includes Oracle and .NET technologies.
Oracle 19c is the current database version.

Top Requirements

Five or more years of strong Oracle PL/SQL development experience. Must have experience writing packages, procedures, and solutions from scratch, not just modifying existing code. True development expertise rather than production support-focused backgrounds is needed.

Strong communication skills. Developers work directly with business users on a daily basis. Everyone on the team presents demos to users. Candidates must be able to read and understand requirements/stories and independently execute solutions without requiring excessive direction.

AI/Copilot exposure. Experience with Microsoft Copilot is a strong plus. The organization is actively exploring AI adoption across teams. Candidates should demonstrate openness to learning and adopting new technologies.

Manager Preferences

Looking for developers with at least 7 years of experience, but is flexible on total years if the candidate is technically strong and adaptable.
Wants candidates who stay current with technology and are willing to learn AI-enabled tools.
Prefers self-sufficient developers who can: interpret business requirements, create technical designs, build solutions independently, and implement and demonstrate their work to end users. Does not want candidates who need repeated explanations or extensive hand holding.

Interview Process

Single interview round.
She uses scenario-based questions.
Candidates may be given a test case or business problem and asked how they would approach and resolve it.
Focus is on problem-solving methodology and development approach rather than memorizing PL/SQL syntax.
