Software Engineer 3 – Core Java

Location: Charlotte, NC
Contract: 6 months with potential extension/conversion
Hybrid: 3 days onsite – Monday & Tuesday required;
Thursday encouraged

Seeking a strong Java Backend Engineer to join a 10-person team supporting and modernizing a large, complex Collections application
. The team is migrating a legacy Java Server Faces (JSF) application to React while modernizing backend services using Core Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, Kafka, and MongoDB
.

This position will primarily focus on backend Java development
, with some React experience needed to support the overall application migration.

• Develop and enhance backend applications using Core Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices
  .
• Support modernization of a legacy Java/JSF application to React
  .
• Design and maintain microservices integrating with MongoDB
  .
• Develop and support Kafka integrations, including filters and event processing.
• Analyze and modify complex legacy Java code
  .
• Deploy and support applications within Open Shift/Kubernetes and cloud environments
  .
• Collaborate with developers and business partners within a Kanban/Agile team
  .
• Participate in quarterly production releases as needed.

• 5–7 years of Java development experience
  .
• Strong Core Java backend development skills.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and Microservices
  .
• Strong experience with Kafka
  .
• Experience with React
  .
• Ability to understand and work with large, complex legacy Java applications.
• Strong communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

• MongoDB experience.
• Open Shift, Kubernetes, or cloud experience.
• Financial services or Collections experience.
• Previous Wells Fargo experience.
