POSITION

SUMMARY

Mecklenburg County is excited to add a Temporary Recreation Assistant to our team! This position will assist with a variety of outdoor special events, activities, and commemorative events. It will be primarily located in the Uptown Charlotte area, but events will be held at various locations and times. Responsibilities include light housekeeping and sanitation, preparing facilities for reservations/bookings, and other event duties as assigned.

The schedule is variable, potentially including nights, weekends and holidays. This role also offers eligibility for similar positions at other Park and Recreation locations should they become available.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Experience assisting with special events strongly preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Provide customer service and handle funds in recreation center or park facilities via telephone, email, web site, social media and walk‑in patrons for information, program registration, center daily use and rentals
  • Ensure safety of participants/spectators and administer first aid when necessary
  • Prepare facility before and after scheduled reservations for weddings and non‑wedding events
  • Visit Park and Recreation venues/sites, monitor events and assist with special events
  • Enforce rules and regulations
  • Collect fees and take registrations for facility rentals
  • Assist in light maintenance of facilities and recreational areas
  • Handle inquiries and complaints from public
  • Assist with Department‑sponsored events
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: No experience required

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Licenses/Certifications: Valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver’s License with County Driving Privileges; CPR/First Aid
