This position is located at the Charlotte East Driver’s License Office at 6635 Executive Circle, Suite 130, Charlotte, NC 28212.Selected Driver License Offices operate extended business hours to better serve North Carolina customers. Employees assigned to these offices work a flexible schedule that supports operational and customer service needs.

Candidates hired through this posting will typically work Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Work schedules may be adjusted based on staffing levels, customer demand, office operations, and other business needs. Candidates selected for this position will report to DMV Headquarters in Rocky Mount, NC Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm the first week of employment and as needed to complete their training in the weeks following.

Employees assigned to an Extended Hours Driver License Office are eligible to receive shift premium pay equal to 10% of their regular hourly rate for qualifying hours worked.

This position is part of the Driver License Associates Program, the hiring rate for this position is $47,255. All Driver License Examiner I (DLE I) recommended candidates will be offered a hiring salary of $47,255. After successful completion of 12 months in the position, the employee will be moved to $49,618 if they have completed all the required training for a DLE, have at least a “meets expectations” on their performance review and does not have any active disciplinary actions.

After successful completion of 18 months in the position, have at least a “meets expectations” on their performance review and does not have any active disciplinary actions, they will graduate from the Driver License Associates Program and become a Driver License Examiner for North Carolina with a new annual salary of $51,980.NCDMV is centered on becoming an exceptional customer service organization and a great place to work.

This transformation is an ongoing, iterative effort to realign staffing levels, improve service accessibility, reduce excessive wait times, and ensure customers can receive services where they live. Using a data driven methodology, NCDMV deploys staff across its statewide footprint, expands service hours in underserved areas, prioritizes staffing relief for high demand offices, and invests in new or expanded facilities where population growth has outpaced capacity.
