General Labor, Material Handler, Warehouse Associate
Job Purpose
MRC Global serves the oil and gas industry across the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors as well as the chemical and gas distribution market sectors worldwide. The role regularly performs Warehouse & Pipe Yard associate duties, may specialize in designated areas or functions, and provides support and direction to regular and temporary warehouse associates. Works closely with branch leadership to ensure productivity and safety expectations are met.
Responsibilities- Interpret and communicate safety policies/practices; train associates to ensure safe work practices.
- Unload material, tools, and equipment from vendor trucks.
- Inspect material for quality requirements.
- Stock and transfer material, tools, and equipment to appropriate shelf, bin, rack, or pipe bundle by a predetermined sequence, including binding location, size, type, style, and length.
- Mark material with the correct information.
- Transfer material to and from stock package orders in boxes and pallets as required.
- Assemble customer orders from stock and package orders in boxes and pallets as required.
- Pull orders for delivery and stock-to-stock transfer.
- Load onto the correct truck or transfer to the packing area using a forklift, overhead crane, and heavy equipment.
- Enter appropriate inventory (incoming and outgoing) information into the SIMS system using a handheld scanner as appropriate.
- Maintain site inventory by assisting with inventory audits.
- Review various periodic reports, such as traffic and mill test reports.
- Prepare documentation for UPS, LTL, SH, or Air shipments.
- Assist Pipe Yard/Warehouse Manager/Supervisor in delegating daily duties and assignments to warehouse personnel.
- Lead and direct Pipe Yard/Warehouse associates in work duties when needed.
- Establish working rapport with local management, corporate employees, and other branch personnel using proper phone etiquette and other effective interpersonal skills.
- Adhere to MRC Global’s ethics policy and hold others accountable for behavior that is consistent with MRC ethical standards.
- Take reasonable care for the safety and health of yourself and others.
- Report workplace hazards, injuries, or illnesses immediately.
- High School Diploma or GED (General Education Degree).
- Current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Minimum one year experience in pipe yard and/or warehouse environment.
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills with leadership qualities.
- Ability to provide documentation verifying legal work status.
- Proficient reading and speaking English language for communication, understanding safety instructions, and responding to inquiries.
- Ability to understand and comply with MRC guidelines & expectations, including Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest guidelines.
