Position: Shipping/Receiving Clerk (Plastics Manufacturing)

Job Summary

The Shipping and Receiving Associate is responsible for the safe and accurate movement of materials, components, finished products, and other goods throughout the facility. This position regularly operates a forklift to load and unload trucks, move and stage materials, maintain inventory locations, and support production and shipping activities.

The ideal candidate is an experienced forklift operator who is dependable, safety‑focused, organized, and able to work efficiently in a fast‑paced manufacturing and warehouse environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safely operate sit‑down forklifts and other authorized material‑handling equipment.
  • Load and unload trucks, trailers, and containers safely and efficiently.
  • Receive incoming materials, components, supplies, and products.
  • Prepare, stage, and move finished products and materials for shipment.
  • Transport materials between receiving, storage, production, staging, and shipping areas.
  • Place materials and products in designated storage locations.
  • Verify item numbers, quantities, labels, and shipment information for incoming and outgoing orders.
  • Identify and report damaged, missing, incorrect, or nonconforming materials.
  • Complete and maintain accurate shipping and receiving documentation.
  • Ensure shipping and receiving transactions are completed on the same day materials arrive or depart.
  • Perform material‑handling duties for in‑process and finished goods.
  • Assist with cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory verification.
  • Perform routine forklift inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns immediately.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe warehouse, dock, staging, and storage areas.
  • Follow pedestrian, forklift, dock, trailer, and warehouse safety procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with production, warehouse, transportation, and administrative team members.
  • Report inventory discrepancies, equipment concerns, shipment delays, and safety hazards to management.
  • Maintain dependable attendance and report to work on time and prepared for the assigned shift.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on operational needs.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous shipping, receiving, warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing experience required.
  • Previous forklift operating experience required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain company forklift certification.
  • Experience loading and unloading trucks and trailers required.
  • Ability to safely maneuver large or bulky loads in warehouse and production environments.
  • Ability to read and understand shipping documents, packing slips, labels, and work instructions.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Ability to accurately count, verify, and record materials and quantities.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Must maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Must be available to work overtime, weekends, or alternate shifts when required by business needs.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit while operating a forklift for extended periods.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to frequently bend, reach, stoop, climb, push, and pull.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds independently, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to repeatedly enter and exit forklift equipment.
  • Ability to safely operate material‑handling equipment and work around moving vehicles and machinery.
Work Environment

This position is performed primarily in a manufacturing, warehouse, shipping, and receiving environment. Employees may be exposed to moving equipment, forklift and vehicle traffic, varying temperatures, and moderate to high noise levels. Required personal protective equipment must be worn as directed.
