Charlotte Water is an enterprise department of the City of Charlotte and one of the largest public water and sewer service providers in the southeast with over 330,000 customer accounts and over 1300 employees. Our service area includes the City of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County and the towns of Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, Mint Hill, Matthews, and Pineville. Charlotte Water's FY 27 operating budget is $685.6 million and a five-year capital program of $2.5 billion.
SALARY:The salary for this position is: $25.00-$26.38, Commensurate with Experience
JOB SUMMARYWarehouse operations involve planning, directing, and monitoring all warehouse processes and personnel to ensure the efficient movement, storage, and inventory control of materials, finished goods, tools, and packaging. Responsibilities include overseeing shipping and receiving operations, warehousing, material handling, order fulfillment, inventory control, and maintaining accurate inventory records, and maintaining a safe and organized warehouse environment.
MAJORDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Fulfill orders requested by personnel and other warehouses
- Perform receival of materials, stock materials and maintain proper documentation records.
- Purchase receipt entry of goods/services on workday
- Issues tools, parts, materials, and supplies; ensures crew members complete requisition forms accurately.
- Performs data entry of inventory issues and goods receival on Cityworks
- Determines re-order points to ensure proper inventory levels.
- Delivers supplies/materials to worksite as needed.
- Works stand-by once every five weeks to provide parts and supplies to crews.
- Operate a forklift
- Makes minor repairs to tools and equipment/Take and pickup equipment for repair
- Mid-year and annual inventory count.
- Cycle counts, audits and other inventory control functions
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited school.
- Two (2) years of related work experience, preferably in warehouse and inventory control.
- Requires a valid driver's license.
- Must obtain and maintain a City Driver's Permit
- Knowledge of computers and software related to the position.
- Skill in operating a forklift and other stockroom equipment.
- Skill in determining best price practices.
- Ability to maintain records
- Ability to read and interpret parts in catalogs according to ordering procedures.
- Ability to acquire a city driving permit.
The work is medium work and requires applying 30 pounds of force frequently and exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: climbing, manual dexterity, handling, perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, distinguishing among sounds, kneeling, lifting, reaching, standing, talking, visual acuity in data/equipment, and walking.
