This is a hybrid position, with proximity to Charlottesville, VA, and an expectation of at least three days in office per week. The Development Coordinator provides high-level programmatic and administrative support for TNC-Virginia’s Development team, including streamlining operations and coordination across high-priority fundraising, event, and program initiatives, and fundraising engagement activities and strategies. This role collaborates closely with the Director of Development, the Development Operations team, and cross-functional teams, serving as a resource for fundraisers and program leaders.
The Coordinator will help manage complex calendars, communications, and special projects, supporting the organization’s mission and strategic goals.
The Development Coordinator will be responsible for various activities in support of the Director of Development, Development team, and fundraising activities and initiatives, including data management, tracking activities, scheduling meetings, drafting correspondences and materials, and assisting with the planning and logistics of travel, events and retreats. The Coordinator may provide program information to internal and external stakeholders, work with vendors and pay invoices, prepare briefings, and prepare donor and partner research.
This role will utilize fundraising systems (such as Blackbaud’s CRM) to maintain information, produce reports, perform analysis, and track progress on key initiatives. The Coordinator applies established processes and practices to improve team effectiveness and ensure smooth operations. The position may involve substantial contact with staff in many functional areas across the organization, donors, partners, and other professionals, providing information and support needed for decision-making and problem-solving.
They will perform administrative functions and support for special projects as required.
- Does not supervise any staff, but may supervise volunteers, interns, or temporary staff.
- Duties are performed under general supervision and established guidelines.
- Demonstrate sensitivity in handling confidential information.
- Assists in database maintenance.
- Financial responsibility may include working within a budget, purchasing, processing invoices, contracting with vendors, and assisting with budget tracking.
- Identify routine problems and utilize existing resources for resolution, referring difficult questions and problems to supervisor.
- Serve as a team member for assigned projects.
- Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience or equivalent combination.
- Experience in business writing, editing, and proofreading.
- Experience with calendar management.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience coordinating projects and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to analyze information for the purpose of preparing reports, coordinating efforts, and solving problems.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to write and edit written materials for use with donor solicitations, member communications, and special events.
- Strong organization and negotiating skills, accuracy, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Demonstrated experience using diplomacy and tact to build strong relationships and motivate staff.
- Experience with current technology in relevant field and database management.
- Experience with creating and managing project timelines and budgets.
This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with TNC’s Auto Safety Program
