About the Role
The Director, Business Operations of the Communications Team works directly for the Chief Communications Officer and the Leadership Team to support the overall effectiveness and organization of the Communications team both internally and externally. The role enhances transformation, growth, and operational excellence through strategic planning, AI adoption, and stakeholder engagement.
Responsibilities and ImpactThe Director, Business Operations will manage multiple high‑impact initiatives, optimize the communications function, and provide critical support to senior leadership.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with key team members to drive communication strategy, decision alignment, and transparent communication.
- Manage operations, metrics, and reporting.
- Partner with the Chief Communications Officer to shape and execute strategic priorities, including transformational programs.
- Champion AI and emerging technology integration to enhance capabilities and generate actionable insights.
- Support development of communications reports, executive events, and executive visibility initiatives.
- Facilitate information flow, stakeholder engagement, and coordination with the Executive Assistant.
- Support team projects, strategic offsites, and events.
- Contribute to new efficiencies and capabilities for the communications function.
- Execute key initiatives or projects assigned by the Chief Communications Officer.
- Monitor and maintain a critical‑path project inventory.
- Ensure issues are addressed efficiently and track progress to completion.
- Collaborate on internal and external communications for the Chief Communications Officer.
- Prepare briefing packets and meeting materials for executive events.
- Monitor internal data related to organizational performance and external market insights.
- Analyze statistics, research data, and KPIs on an ad‑hoc basis.
- Implement AI enablement specific to communications, including automation solutions.
- Execute additional responsibilities as directed by the Chief Communications Officer and Leadership Team.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of business experience in transformation, operations, or chief of staff roles.
- 8+ years in technology, financial services, professional services, or related fields.
- Business administration background.
- Significant experience interacting with senior leaders.
- Broad experience with analysis tools and frameworks.
- Experience developing and implementing AI/automation solutions to increase productivity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including storytelling with data in PowerPoint and Excel.
- Strong facilitation skills and ability to build relationships across the organization.
- Proven ability to handle complex situations, multiple responsibilities, and urgent demands.
- Ability to represent the Communications team with confidence, urgency, diplomacy, and humility.
- Experience managing demanding deadlines and limited resources in an ambiguous environment.
- Proficient navigation within a large matrixed organization.
- High standards of quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Absolute discretion with confidential information.
- Resilience and strong emotional intelligence for collaborative engagement.
- Comprehensive understanding of S&P Global’s businesses, products, and services preferred.
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience.
Base salary: $115,236 – $215,000. Final base salary depends on geographic location, experience, skills, and certifications. Eligible for an annual incentive plan and additional corporate benefits.
