Upper School Chemistry Teacher; Grade 10

The Covenant School, an independent Christian Liberal Arts & Sciences school in Charlottesville, Virginia, is seeking a dedicated and dynamic educator to teach 10th grade Chemistry starting in the 2026-27 school year. Our school, which serves over 750 students from Pre-K through Grade 12, is a gospel-centered community of faith and learning, rooted in the Western Liberal Arts tradition, and focused on the formation of the whole person—mind, body, and soul.

Our faculty leads with an incarnational approach that seeks to equip and inspire students to live well through service to God and others.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in chemistry, including laboratory instruction and safety protocols, and will be committed to the holistic formation of students within a Christian Liberal Arts & Sciences curriculum. Specific teaching duties will include teaching college-preparatory and Honors-level Chemistry courses in Grade 10. Candidates must demonstrate strong command of the discipline, the ability to build meaningful relationships with students while fostering order and discipline, and a commitment to students’ formation in wonder and wisdom.

In keeping with the school’s mission, candidates must be able to integrate Christian faith and academic rigor thoughtfully and coherently, allowing Christian truth to illuminate the study of chemistry in ways faithful to the integrity of the discipline.

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, or a related field;
• Proven experience teaching high school science;
• Experience teaching Honors-level science courses (preferred)
• Strong ability to integrate their Christian faith authentically in the context of their teaching.
