Upper School U.S. Government Teacher (Grade 12)

The Covenant School, an independent Christian Liberal Arts & Sciences school in Charlottesville, Virginia, is seeking a dedicated and dynamic educator to teach 12th grade U.S. Government starting in the 2026-27 school year. Our school, which serves over 750 students from Pre-K through Grade 12, is a gospel-centered community of faith and learning, rooted in the Western Liberal Arts tradition, and focused on the formation of the whole person—mind, body, and soul.

Our faculty leads with an incarnational approach that seeks to equip and inspire students to live well through service to God and others.

The ideal candidate will possess a mature Christian faith and a strong background in, and commitment to, the Christian liberal arts tradition, with the ability to integrate the study of history, government, and economics with the art of rhetoric, written and spoken. Specific teaching duties will include teaching college-preparatory and Advanced-level U.S. Government courses, as well as serving as a principal advisor to students completing a year-long senior thesis project.

Candidates should be passionate about working with adolescents, able to build meaningful relationships while fostering order and discipline, and committed to students’ formation in wonder and wisdom. In keeping with Covenant’s mission, this role requires an educator who can share their Christian faith authentically and thoughtfully in the context of their teaching.

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in History, Government, or a related field;
• Proven experience teaching high school students;
• Strong ability to integrate their Christian faith authentically in the context of their teaching.
