The Department of Economics at the University of Virginia invites applications for a full-time faculty position on the tenure track, beginning August 10, 2026, at the Assistant Professor rank. We will consider candidates in all fields of economics.
We seek candidates who have the skills and experience to advance and contribute to our mission, and are prepared to build and extend a top-tier research portfolio, including developing external funding to support research endeavors. We value ambitious scholars eager to work together and build on the intellectually vibrant community for economists at the University.
Review of applications will begin November 10th. To receive full consideration, applications must be received by that date. The position will remain open until filled.
Prior to extending an offer, the department may request additional information from candidates, including letters from references.

QualificationsCandidates must have received a Ph.D. by the start of the appointment. The successful candidate will show a strong research record and an ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
