Additional duties will likely include serving as a mentor for graduate TAs, providing leadership in our teaching mission, and coordinating the department's Calculus I & II course offerings, with a course release for such coordination. This is a continuing three-year, tenure-ineligible appointment with the possibility (but not the guarantee) of renewal.
The Department of Mathematics' General Faculty team is a dynamic group that works together to implement evidence-based teaching practices in order to improve student outcomes in coordinated introductory mathematics courses. Opportunities to participate in graduate TA professional development and/or and re-design efforts to improve existing courses might be available.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or related field by the start of the appointment and have at least 2 years of teaching experience in Mathematics at the time of appointment, inclusive of teaching done as a graduate student.
Preferred qualifications.
Desirable qualifications include experience coordinating multi-section courses, experience working in a team environment, experience working with students from a wide variety of backgrounds, experience mentoring/developing graduate TAs, and familiarity with the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) in mathematics.
