Overview
The University of Virginia's School of Education and Human Development seeks qualified applicants for the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education to teach and provide content expertise in special education. Opportunities may be on grounds in Charlottesville, Virginia and/or online during the Summer 2026, Fall 2026, and Spring 2027 semesters.
Graduate‑Level Course InstructorsGraduate‑level course instructors require a terminal degree (PhD; EdD) in Education specializing in special education or a related field.
Undergraduate Course InstructorsUndergraduate course instructors require a master’s degree or terminal degree specializing in special education or a related field.
Commitment to TeachingApplicants must have a strong commitment to teaching excellence. Previous Pre‑K‑12 or post‑secondary education teaching experience in the course content area is strongly preferred. Your cover letter must detail your specific content area expertise and experience within special education. Additionally, please note your availability to teach in‑person, online, and/or hybrid modalities.
Position DetailsThese at‑will positions for teaching a single course do not carry benefits. The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment and requires an Education Verification. The department will not sponsor visas for this position.
