Lower School Teacher Aide; First Grade

The Covenant School, an independent Christian Liberal Arts & Sciences school in Charlottesville, Virginia, is seeking a full-time Teacher Aide for First Grade beginning in the 2026-27 school year. Serving more than 750 students from Pre-K through Grade 12, our school is a gospel-centered community of faith and learning committed to the formation of the whole person through a rich and humane education.

The First Grade Teacher Aide works in close partnership with the grade-level team to support the academic, social, and personal development of students. This role contributes to an orderly, joyful classroom environment in which young learners grow in foundational skills, independence, and habits of attention.

In collaboration with the lead teachers, the Teacher Aide supports instruction and classroom life in the following ways:

• Working with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning concepts and support mastery of foundational skills
• Assisting with lesson preparation, classroom organization, and the preparation of instructional materials
• Supporting classroom routines and management in ways that promote focus, responsibility, and positive relationships
• Supervising students in classrooms and shared spaces, including hallways, cafeteria, playground, gymnasium, and during field trips

The Teacher Aide communicates clearly and works collaboratively with teachers, students, parents, and staff, contributing to a consistent and supportive Lower School environment. In keeping with the school’s mission, the Teacher Aide integrates Christian faith naturally and thoughtfully into daily interactions and classroom life.
