Adjunct Faculty – Astronomy

Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) seeks qualified adjunct faculty to teach astronomy courses across multiple campuses and online settings. Positions are appointed on a course‑by‑course, semester basis and may include distance‑learning instruction.

• Teach developmental and/or college‑level astronomy courses, including distance‑learning courses during day, evening, and weekend sessions.
• Primarily face‑to‑face instruction with the possibility of remote instruction.
• Deliver course content on PVCC locations including the central campus, Giuseppe Center, and correctional facilities.
• Prepare and deliver instructional materials and assessments.
• Participate in faculty meetings and professional development activities.

• Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in astronomy.
• Ph.D. in astronomy preferred.
• Two years of teaching experience, work experience in the field, and experience with online teaching.
• Demonstrated ability to develop curricular materials and assessments.
• Strong communication and instructional skills.
