Two's Program Assistant Teaching Faculty
St. Anne’s-Belfield School seeks an experienced, enthusiastic half-time Assistant Two’s Program Teacher for the school year. The role is within our Early Childhood Program, which offers a robust academic foundation and a strong emphasis on outdoor learning.
Responsibilities- Plan and implement cross-curricular lessons that stimulate curiosity and promote a growth mindset.
- Build community within the classroom and implement the social curriculum.
- Establish strong, trusting partnerships with families.
- Commit to ongoing professional development in outdoor education.
- Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
- Previous experience working with young children, particularly toddlers
- Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate practices
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Ability to meet state licensing requirements, including background checks
- Familiarity with progressive educational philosophies
- Experience with nature-based or outdoor education programs
- Understanding of documentation and observation practices
- Prior early childhood classroom experience is preferred
- Work outdoors for extended periods in all seasons and weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, wind)
- Navigate uneven terrain, including grass, dirt, mulch, hills, and natural surfaces throughout the day
- Lift and carry children weighing up to 40 pounds repeatedly throughout the day
- Bend, squat, kneel, and sit on the ground regularly to engage with children at their level
- Stand and walk for extended periods during outdoor activities
- Respond quickly to children’s needs, including running or moving swiftly when necessary
- Lift and move materials, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds
- Maintain visual and auditory acuity to supervise children in an outdoor environment and respond to their needs
- Use manual dexterity to assist children with self-care tasks and manipulate educational materials
- Primarily outdoor classroom setting occupied for the majority of the day in all seasons
- Exposure to natural elements, including sun, wind, rain, and varying temperatures
- Work with natural materials such as sand, water, mud, wood, and plants
- Close interaction with young children throughout the day
Half-time position (20 hours per week), 10 months per year with pay across 12 months.
Hours:
8 am - 12 pm, Monday through Friday.
