Assistant Professor of German, General Faculty

The Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures seeks applications to fill a 3-year position as Assistant Professor on the Academic General Faculty, Teaching track for the  academic year. Primary responsibilities include teaching of language and culture courses across the undergraduate curriculum as well as departmental service. Candidates with proven record of excellence in teaching college-level German language courses are preferred. Core responsibilities of this position include teaching six courses per year in the German language program (3/3).

This is a three-year, tenure-ineligible appointment with the possibility but not the guarantee of renewal.

The successful applicant will join a vibrant community of undergraduate students and committed scholar-teachers.

Review of applications will begin starting on May 5, 2026 and the position will remain open until interviews have started. The anticipated start date is August 10, 2026.

A completed PhD in German at the time of the appointment is required, as are native or near-native fluency in German. Experience teaching at the undergraduate college level in German is preferred.
