Curriculum Coordinator – Career & Technical Education

Department:
Instruction – Full‑time, 12 months/year.

In Albemarle County Public Schools, the Curriculum Coordinator implements evidence‑based strategic actions to support the Division's Vision, Mission, and Goals. The Coordinator develops curriculum, assessment, and instructional methods that align with the Division's strategic plan and collaborates with the Department of Professional Learning to support instructional coaching.

Essential Functions
  • Monitor, administer, and plan for Federal and State grants in the CTE field.
  • Ensure safe operation of CTE spaces across the Division.
  • Lead development, implementation, and assessment of curriculum aligned with mission, vision, and goals.
  • Develop formative and summative assessments in collaboration with teachers, students, and school leaders.
  • Collaborate with division and school staff to support curriculum integration and continuity of Pre‑K–12 core areas, technology applications, and research & media skills.
  • Participate in state and national curriculum organizations; stay informed on latest research; serve as resource to parents, staff, School Board, and community groups.
  • Align division curriculum and student performance benchmarks with state Standards of Learning, Standards of Accreditation, and division goals.
  • Assist the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction in implementing, administering, and evaluating instructional programs.
  • Support analysis of student performance measures to implement instructional improvement and intervention services.
  • Co‑teach in Pre‑K‑12 classrooms as a model for best instructional practices, technology applications, and exemplary lesson planning.
  • Participate in Professional Learning Communities, building relationships with lead teachers, department chairs, instructional coaches, and principals.
  • Provide reflective coaching to teachers, groups, and principals for implementation of the Framework for Quality Learning.
  • Direct learning resource adoption process and advise on selection of resources with equity in mind.
  • Plan and facilitate regular division‑wide coach meetings.
  • Provide professional development for instructional coaches to improve coaching efficacy.
  • Design and deliver professional development for the administrative team and teachers.
  • Assist in hiring teachers and provide principal support for performance appraisals.
  • Lead and support programs for novice teachers.
  • Participate in development and management of the Office of Instruction's annual budget.
  • Maintain portion of the Office of Instruction web page.
  • Develop, review, and monitor programs to support historically marginalized enrollment groups.
  • Adhere to execution standards in project management, team leadership, data collection and analysis, resource utilization, and school improvement planning.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by administration.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of best practices in curriculum, assessment, and instruction; ability to use best‑practice coaching techniques; knowledge of supervision skills; understanding of framework of quality instruction, professional learning community, and teacher performance appraisal; ability to work within a team to plan, model, and facilitate professional development; knowledge of VDOE changes related to CTE.

Education and Experience

Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or related field; minimum five years of relevant instructional experience; eligible for or hold a Virginia Department of Education license in the applicable area (administration endorsement preferred).
