Overview
Kluge-Ruhe is the only museum dedicated to the collection, research, and display of Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art in the United States. The museum collaborates with First Nations artists and communities and aims to increase First Nations leadership in museums.
Responsibilities- Creatively develop, lead, and evaluate educational programs to enhance engagement for all age groups in the in-house and touring exhibitions.
- Create goal-oriented activities that enable visitors of all ages to respond to current exhibitions in the hands‑on art‑making space.
- Work collaboratively with team members to support visiting First Nations artists, curators, and knowledge holders by scheduling their visits and partnering with national and global organizations to amplify their voices.
- Manage projects by creating budgets, tracking expenses, scheduling, meeting deadlines, and communicating effectively internally and externally.
- Supervise two Visitor Experience Associates who staff the museum on weekends.
- Lead a program of community volunteers who staff the front desk on weekdays, including recruitment, training, and evaluation.
- Lead tours for school and community groups and ensure daily tours led by volunteers are high‑quality and consistent.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- At least three years of relevant professional experience.
- Master’s degree or demonstrated mastery in the specialty area with significant equivalent experience.
- At least five years of relevant experience.
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The employee must be able to climb ladders up to 4 feet, lift up to 30 pounds, and occasionally travel, attend meetings, and work evenings and weekends as required.
Salary Range- $68,000–$71,000, commensurate with education and experience.
