EDHS Youth & Social Innovation Lecturer (Faculty Wage)
The University of Virginia's School of Education and Human Development seeks qualified applicants for the Department of Human Services to teach and provide content expertise for programs in Youth & Social Innovation for the academic year. Positions will be filled on an ongoing basis according to curriculum needs and appointments are typically for teaching a single course. If no position is currently available, we will retain submitted applications on file for future consideration through the academic year.
A Master's or Terminal Degree in an appropriate field is required, with a Terminal Degree preferred. Applicants must have a strong commitment to teaching excellence. Previous K-12 or higher education teaching experience in the course content area is strongly preferred. Attach a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy, and the contact information for three references. The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment.
This position will require an Education Verification, Criminal History, Sexual Offender Registry Check. This is a wage position that is not eligible for leave or other benefits and is limited to 1500 hours of work in a year. For more information, refer to the Wage Employment link. This position will not sponsor applicants for work visas. Faculty wage employment is usually less than 0.5 FTE (teaching fewer than 6 credits or the equivalent of no more than 19 hours per week);
is offered for only one or two semesters at a time; and applies to faculty members paid solely via Period Activity Pay.
