Job DescriptionIn‑School Suspension Teaching Assistant
Full‑time, 10 months per year (7.25 hrs/day; 188 days/year)

Creates a safe, structured environment for students during in‑school suspension; supports student learning and behavioral compliance.
General Definition of WorkPerforms responsible para‑professional, clerical and human support work assisting in student management of in‑school suspensions; performs related duties as required.
Essential Functions- Supervise students during in‑school suspension, collecting assignments, reviewing work, answering questions, and providing encouragement.
- Supervise ISS students during break and lunch periods.
- Complete ISS student assignment sheets and distribute them.
- Collect, organize, and prepare assignments for each student.
- Record attendance and generate reports.
- Review and enforce ISS rules.
- Enter student data into the computer database.
- Perform clerical duties to support the submission of quarterly reports.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of student instruction and management practices; familiarity with school system rules and procedures for classrooms, halls, cafeteria, library, and transportation; ability to guide, direct, teach, and control students; ability to follow written and verbal instructions; ability to establish and maintain working relationships with students, parents, teachers, principals, and other school personnel; basic computer typing skills; ability to operate audio‑visual equipment.
Education and ExperienceAny combination of education and experience equivalent to high‑school graduation, including clerical training.
EvaluationWill be evaluated on the ability and effectiveness to carry out the responsibilities outlined above.
