Lecturer In Interdisciplinary Studies (Faculty Wage)
The University of Virginia School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) seeks applicants to fill a tenure-ineligible instructional position for the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies Program during the Fall 2026 term. SCPS helps working adults finish their degrees and advance their careers. The school offers a variety of online programs including bachelor's degree completion programs, professional certificates, a master's in public safety, and other career accelerators.
The course to be taught is "ISLS 3000:
Transformations - Reading, Thinking, and Communicating in the Liberal Arts." This course develops reading, writing, critical thinking, technology and research proficiencies necessary for success at college level and beyond; orients students to the culture of the University and the community of the BIS program; introduces the breadth of campus resources and addresses academic advising; and utilizes the theme of transformation as subject matter for reading, writing and discussion to provide opportunities for multi-disciplinary exploration.
Candidates must have a minimum of a master's degree or terminal degree in an appropriate field of study. A terminal degree is strongly preferred. Applicants must be committed to teaching non-traditional students online in asynchronous and synchronous formats, and preferably professional experience in the field. This is a part-time, non-tenure track position which does not carry benefits. Faculty wage appointments are subject to change and carry no expectation of renewal.
