Job SummaryThe University of Virginia's School of Education and Human Development seeks qualified applicants for the Department of Human Services to teach and provide content expertise for programs in Youth & Social Innovation for the academic year.
PositionsPositions will be filled on an ongoing basis according to curriculum needs and appointments are typically for teaching a single course. If no position is currently available, we will retain submitted applications on file for future consideration through the academic year.
QualificationsA Master’s or Terminal Degree in an appropriate field is required, with a Terminal Degree preferred. Applicants must have a strong commitment to teaching excellence. Previous K-12 or higher education teaching experience in the course content area is strongly preferred.
Job ResponsibilitiesTeach one or more courses for one or two academic terms and provide content expertise for programs in Youth & Social Innovation.
Benefits and ConditionsThis is a wage position that is not eligible for leave or other benefits and is limited to 1500 hours of work in a year. Wage faculty are usually less than 0.5 FTE and are offered for only one or two semesters at a time. There is no expectation of renewal. This position will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
Additional Employment RequirementsThe University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment. This position will require an Education Verification, Criminal History, Sexual Offender Registry Check.
Physical Requirements- Traveling to and from work location, other UVA or UVA Health facilities, or to other locations in the U.S. or abroad for meetings or research
- Using computers, specialized equipment, and other technologies
- Remaining stationary, moving, bending, lifting, and reaching
- Performing procedures using fine motor skills
- Communicating effectively in writing, in person, in the classroom, online, and in clinical settings
- Interacting with others such as colleagues, other academic and medical peers, students, patients, and the public
