Position: Clemons Library Summer Circulation Assistant (Student Wage)

Clemons Library Circulation Assistant

Clemons Library at the University of Virginia is seeking a student Circulation Assistant starting in late July/early August. We need summer staffing help in the weeks leading up to the start of Fall semester. The position can continue into the 2026-27 school year.

This posting is only for students who can start working around the beginning of August. There will be a separate Clemons Library job posting for students to start at the beginning of Fall semester.

Responsibilities:

The Library Circulation Assistant will provide customer service at the Clemons 4th floor main desk. The position duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Checking out books, videos, and equipment items to patrons.
  • Answering general informational questions.
  • Checking in returned materials and getting them organized and re-shelved.
  • Providing basic IT support for printers and desktop computers.

Scheduling:

This is a part-time position, with potential work hours available during 9am-6pm on weekdays, and 1-5pm on weekends. Must be able to start beginning of August.

Physical Demands:
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
