This internship position assists the Adult Education Specialist in supporting Adult Education programs across IRC’s domestic offices.
SCOPE OF WORKThe intern will assist the Adult Education Specialist with various aspects of the programs. Tasks may include setting up the classroom, making copies, answering clients’ questions regarding language and culture, assisting with classroom activities, data entry, and occasionally providing child watch and transportation.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Attend ESOL and Cultural Orientation classes on designated days
- Arrive a few minutes early to check in with teacher about the day’s classroom activities
- Assist students with class assignments
- Assist with set-up and tear-down during Cultural Orientation
- Provide supervision when needed for young children when present
- Help integrate digital literacy in the classroom
- Record hours and submit completed timesheet for each month via the IRC’s online Volunteer Dashboard.
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree or recent graduate
- Patient, reliable, and flexible
- Exposure to global environments and languages is a plus
- Personal vehicle is not required, but would be helpful on occasion
This position is unpaid and reports to the Adult Education Specialist.
