Special Education Teacher in Charlottesville, VA

Required Qualifications:

• Valid Virginia Special Education General Curriculum K-12 license
• Experience working with elementary or middle school populations, preferably in inclusion or Autism support
• Strong collaboration skills for co-teaching and partnering with general education teachers and support staff
• Ability to develop, adapt, and implement IEPs tailored to student needs
• Excellent communication skills for engaging with students, families, and colleagues

Responsibilities:

• Instruct and support students in either an elementary Autism support class or as a 7th grade ELA co-teacher
• Design and implement lesson plans, accommodations, and modifications to promote access and success
• Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and families to promote student progress
• Monitor, assess, and document student achievements and behavioral goals
• Participate in IEP meetings, data collection, and professional development
