Position: Open Rank Professor of Commerce, General Faculty (Teaching Track)

Open Rank Professor of Commerce, General Faculty (Teaching Track)

The McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia invites applications for a full-time, open-rank academic general faculty member (teaching track or practice track, non-tenure eligible) to teach introductory and other general management courses beginning August 2027. The position will entail teaching 18 credit hours (or the equivalent of six 3-credit courses) per academic year. Teaching assignments will include some combination of the following courses and will be determined based on the teaching expertise of the candidate and needs of the school:

  • Foundations of Commerce (1000-level introductory course)
  • Organizational Behavior (3000-level or 7000-level courses)
  • Other Management topics as needed (3000 - 4000level or 7000-level elective courses); possible topics include but are not limited to Strategic Management, Global Management, Consulting, and Managing Sustainable Development.

The position is open rank. Positions at the lecturer ranks (lecturer, senior lecturer, or distinguished lecturer in commerce, depending on experience and qualifications) teach only undergraduate courses. Candidates at this level must have a master's degree in a suitable field or commensurate experience. Positions with graduate teaching expectations carry professorial rank (assistant professor, associate professor, or professor, general faculty, depending on experience and qualifications).

Candidates at this level must have a Ph.D. in a suitable field or commensurate experience.

The salary range for this position at the starting rank (Lecturer in Commerce or Assistant Professor, General Faculty) is $115,000 - $125,000 per year. Complete an online application and attach:
