Mountaintop Montessori is seeking a full-time Lower Elementary Guide (Lead Teacher) for the 2026–27 school year, beginning August 2026.

This school-year position serves children ages 6–9 in a multi-age Montessori classroom. The Lead Guide creates and directs an engaging learning environment, collaborates with the elementary team, works closely with families, and is supported by a classroom assistant.

Candidates must hold Montessori elementary certification (AMI, AMS, MACTE, or equivalent) and a bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field. Ideal applicants have experience working with diverse students and families, strong communication skills, and prior elementary classroom experience. The role requires the ability to analyze student behavior, apply appropriate interventions, manage classroom communications, and maintain strong organization and initiative.

Mountaintop Montessori is an independent school serving children from 18 months through eighth grade. Located on a scenic 9-acre campus in Charlottesville’s Pantops area, the school has provided authentic Montessori education for over 40 years.

Salary starts at $48,500 and is based on education and experience.
