Job DescriptionThe Senior Project Controls Specialist leads schedule development and maintenance, Cost control, and project review for Apex Clean Energy’s onshore wind, solar, and battery energy storage (BESS) projects across the U.S. This role is responsible for developing and executing scheduling strategies that optimize cost, quality, schedule, and risk while ensuring accuracy to project managers.
The Senior Project Controls Specialist works closely with Engineering, Construction, Development, Project Management, Finance, Legal, and Operations to align procurement activities with Apex’s growing and long-term growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain priority project schedules from Development through execution.
- Train, assist, and provide guidance to project managers in scheduling process.
- Analyze and evaluate current schedules vs established baselines.
- Ensure accuracy in schedule and cost information being shared across the company.
- Perform monthly and ad hoc cost to completes with Project Managers
- Conduct periodic Project updates by working across departments to gather necessary information.
- Build, train, and implement Procore and Controls processes and procedures.
- Champion scheduling and cost controls across the company.
To succeed as a Senior Project Controls Specialist at Apex Clean Energy, you’ll need to excel within the following criteria:
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, or a related field
- Experienced in Renewable Energy projects preferred
Experience
- 5+ years of progressive Scheduling and Project Controls experience
- Minimum 3 years in Renewable Energy scheduling and/or cost, with direct experience in wind, solar, and BESS equipment
Skills & Attributes
- Ability to analyze contractor schedules and provide critical analysis and feedback for the project team
- Prepare and transitions schedules as projects transition across different stages of completion
- Strategic, collaborative leader with a proactive problem-solving mindset
- Effective communicator with the ability to engage executives and external partners
- High ethical standards and alignment with Apex’s clean energy mission
- Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Project and working knowledge of P6
- Knowledge of Procore and the financial module extra
- Bonus for experience in Smartsheet
