This position is customer-facing and requires strong technical writing skills, as written intelligence products and assessments are key deliverables.

Position Overview
Insight Global is seeking a highly skilled Aerospace Engineer to support a large federal client in Charlottesville, VA. In this role, you will research, analyze, and assess foreign Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) to determine their capabilities, limitations, vulnerabilities, and future operational potential.
You will leverage your aerospace engineering expertise to produce high-quality technical and intelligence assessments that inform senior decision-makers and provide a strategic information advantage. This role combines engineering analysis, intelligence assessment, and direct customer interaction, making it ideal for engineers who enjoy seeing their work directly influence mission outcomes.

Key Responsibilities Analyze and assess current and emerging foreign military aerospace systems, including UAVs, UAS, and rotary-wing platforms, with a focus on materials, structures, propulsion, sensors, avionics, survivability equipment, and mission systems.
Predict future system capabilities and battlefield effectiveness by reconstructing and evaluating aerodynamics, propulsion, structures, stability, and control.
Identify system vulnerabilities and limitations to support countermeasure development and operational planning.
Model, characterize, and/or test aircraft performance, stability, and control using industry-standard aerospace analysis tools.
Contribute to the refinement and deployment of advanced aerospace modeling capabilities.
Develop and deliver written intelligence products and engineering assessments in accordance with ICD 203 and ICD 206 standards.
Utilize the System Parametric Information Relational Intelligence Tool (SPIRIT) to create, edit, and maintain models, sub-assemblies, graphics, maps, and supporting documentation.
Produce comprehensive all-source intelligence assessments, technical analysis reports, and maintain databases related to assigned aerospace systems and technologies.
Engage directly with customers to clarify requirements, present findings, and support mission objectives.

Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering. Comparable STEM degrees may be considered for candidates with significant aerospace-focused military or industry experience.
3+ years of experience supporting DoD programs as an Aerospace Engineer, Systems Analyst, or Intelligence Analyst with a strong technical focus.
Hands-on experience with aerospace systems, including UAVs, UAS, helicopters, and associated structures, materials, propulsion systems, sensors, avionics, or survivability equipment.
Active, in-scope DoD TS/SCI clearance (required).
Proven ability to conduct independent technical research and produce clear, well-structured written assessments.
Strong self-starter with the ability to work independently while meeting client-defined research objectives.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with aerospace modeling and analysis tools such as NDARC, CHARM, MATLAB, Solid Works, or other modern CAD/software tools.
Background in intelligence analysis, all-source analysis, or formal intelligence product writing.
Familiarity with ICD 203 and ICD 206 standards for intelligence reporting.
