Civil Project Engineer II/III – Traffic Analysis and Planning

Timmons Group is seeking a candidate to join the Traffic Analysis and Planning Group located in our Charlottesville, VA office.

• Complete operational analysis, corridor studies, traffic studies, innovative intersection implementation, traffic calming, and safety analysis.
• Bicycle/pedestrian/multi‑modal feasibility, analysis, design, and implementation.
• Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skillsets, and/or utilize computers to solve problems.
• Perform research and write objective summary reports used in the completion of project work.
• Assist in the preparation of engineering planning schedules and cost estimates.
• Complete field observation, inspection, and data collection duties.
• Communicate with client staff and internal design team.
• Communicate results/recommendations to the general public.

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
• Ideal candidates will have between two and six years of experience in Transportation / Traffic Engineering and Planning.
• Proficiency in Synchro, SIDRA, and HCS.
• Knowledge of traffic analyses, planning studies, traffic safety, traffic forecasting, traffic signal design, ITS design, and/or traffic signal timing is preferred.
• Bicycle/pedestrian/multi‑modal project experience preferred.
• Basic CAD and/or GIS knowledge preferred.
  
  Experience working with DOTs and/or localities.
• PE/EIT preferred.
