We approach problems with creativity and innovation. The Charlottesville, VA office of Schnabel Engineering is seeking an Engineering Technician to join our growing practice. We are looking for a motivated candidate with attention to detail, a passion to continue to develop as a professional, and a desire to be part of a strong team.
This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates with a geology or other science-based degree to enter the civil engineering industry. This position is also a good fit for anyone interested in construction who enjoys hands-on work.
Job Responsibilities:
- Field observation and testing during placement of construction materials including soil, concrete, asphalt, masonry, and sprayed-on fireproofing
- Reporting of test results and site observations
- Soil and concrete laboratory testing
- High School degree
- Valid Driver's License
- Possess good oral, written, communication, and organizational skills
- Able to perform rudimentary mathematic computations
- Attentive to detail
- Interest in working outdoors on construction sites
- Candidates must be able to lift 50 - 75 pounds on an occasional basis and be physically able to negotiate construction sites, climb ladders and work outside
- Construction experience is preferred but not required
- Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history and motor vehicle record
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
