Environmental Construction Specialist to work on Electric Utility Construction Projects. This is a field position, and candidates must have experience with environmental compliance in relation to land clearing and linear construction projects. • Regulatory Compliance:
  Provides Environmental Compliance and construction oversight on transmission Site Development and Linear Transmission Line construction projects for Duke Energy; provides Environmental Oversight and compliance/inspections associated with Transmission Capital Projects and the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).
• Ensure compliance with laws and regulations for wetland access, protected species, wood and debris disposal, site control and soil disturbance; ensure field operations are in compliance with permits, including road use permits, natural resource protection act permits, Corps of Engineers permits, etc.; document pre- and post-work field conditions to ensure sites are in compliance with permits and environmental regulations and identify mitigation or restoration needs.
• Field Operations:
  Performs all required erosion and sediment, stormwater management and pollution prevention inspections for applicable construction projects; interprets complex plans and drawings; promotes good public relations in daily duties.
• Crew Oversight:
  Attends pre-construction meetings, constructability meetings, and status meetings; manages and oversees site development crews; provides oversight for sediment and erosion control or BMP contractors to ensure measures are installed as per the approved plan; ensures wetlands and sensitive areas are identified and crews are aware before entering such areas.
• Stakeholder & Public Relations:
  Monitors and reports to Project Management on status of construction units estimated and actuals billed to date; communicates daily with the utility client, contractors, landowners, and the public.
• Subject Matter Expert Consulting:
  Assists in developing recommendations on future right-of-way maintenance requirements.
• Additional Responsibilities:
  Drive a company vehicle safely to work locations; assume other duties as assigned.

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Construction Management, Building Science, or related fields.
• 1-5 years’ experience in Site Development work, permitting utility construction.
• Solid understanding of NPDES CGP SWPPP implementation and inspections.
• Successfully completed the Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Inspector (FSESCI) certification for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FLORIDA).
• Solid understanding of NPDES, CGP for North Carolina DEQ, and SWPPP implementation and inspections; ability to work in North Carolina/South Carolina contexts.
• Completed a recognized Stormwater, Erosion Control Inspector Training Program (CESSWI) or similar competency program for North Carolina/South Carolina, Indiana, or related regions as applicable.
