Position: Engineering Intern 2026

RIVANNA is seeking a talented and motivated intern to contribute to the rapid growth of our emerging medical device company. As an Engineering Intern, you will work with a team of professionals as we strive to achieve our mission of improving global human health. This hands‑on multidisciplinary role involves collaboration with our mechanical and electrical engineering team for various product development tasks and projects.

Responsibilities
  • Manage 3D printer operation, including coordinating print requests, setting up prints, post‑processing, and troubleshooting
  • Execute product and component testing, documenting results and identifying areas for improvement
  • Assist with the design, fabrication, and assembly of test fixtures and manufacturing jigs
  • Assist with assembling components according to established procedures and specifications
  • Perform soldering tasks for electromechanical assemblies
  • Attend engineering team meetings and report on project progress and completion
  • Collaborate with members of various departments to support product development and manufacturing efforts
  • Contribute to a safe and organized work environment by following established safety procedures and keeping the lab and machine shop areas clean and organized
  • Perform other job‑related duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
  • Currently pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical challenges
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed procedures
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools, power tools, and test equipment
  • Experience with 3D printing and soldering is preferred
  • Experience with CAD (e.g., Solid Works, Onshape, Fusion
    360) is preferred
  • Experience with PCB design software (e.g. Altium, EAGLE) is a plus
