Job Description
CFA Institute is seeking a Macro Foresight & Systems Head to provide outside-in, systems-level foresight on structural shifts (initially AI and private markets), identifying how deep technological, industrial, and geopolitical transformations may reshape finance and investment practice over time — before these changes are fully visible in markets or current professional norms. This role is intentionally conceptual, integrative, and pre-consensus. Its value lies in mapping uncertainty, not predicting outcomes.

- Ability to operate as a systems-level thinker who:
- connects technological, economic, geopolitical, and institutional dynamics rather than working in silos
- works productively with conceptual ambiguity and incomplete information
- operates comfortably ahead of consensus, framing questions before they are widely recognized
- Proven experience constructing and stress‑testing:
- scenarios (not forecasts) to explore alternative future states
- conceptual glide paths that explain how structural change may unfold over time
- early‑warning indicators and trigger points that signal paradigm shifts
- Demonstrated analytical experience examining:
- how industries, platforms, and value chains reconfigure under technological disruption
- how geopolitical dynamics, industrial policy, regulation, and institutional fragmentation reshape markets and capital allocation
- Track record of producing substantive, externally facing foresight content, including:
- state‑of‑the‑landscape or horizon‑scanning reports
- scenario‑led thought leadership or futures briefings
- long‑form analytical pieces intended for senior external audiences
- Strong written and verbal communication capability, including the ability to:
- write clearly and authoritatively about uncertainty, trade‑offs, and systemic change
- translate complex systems analysis into narratives that inform decision‑making without oversimplifying
- brief senior internal and external audiences on regime shifts and implications, rather than point estimates or predictions
- Ability to operate as a systems-level thinker who:
