Overview
The School of Medicine at the University of Virginia is recruiting a Finance Generalist to support the Dean’s Office units.
Responsibilities- Advising units on financial policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Overseeing and evaluating unit budgets.
- Analyzing monthly unit performance relative to budget.
- Understanding various fund sources and guiding appropriate utilisation.
- Reviewing and approving expense and revenue transactions, account certifications, payroll accounting updates, and monitoring suspense accounts.
- Performing analytical or transactional activities that are more complex or specialized.
- Serving as subject‑matter expert for Workday, Anaplan, and Qlik, and serving as a resource for Dean's Office units.
- Synthesizing unit information and reporting opportunities and risks to senior leadership.
- High organization, analytical, numerical, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- At least two years of relevant professional experience; professional experience in an academic setting preferred.
- Experience with University financial reporting tools such as Workday, Qlik, and Anaplan.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is an exempt level, benefited position. The role is remote eligible but prefers the incumbent to be in Charlottesville, VA up to six times a year. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST.

- This is a sedentary role primarily involving desktop computer use; occasional travel may be required.
