Position: Center for Cultural Landscapes Fiscal Technician

The University of Virginia seeks a Fiscal Technician in the School of Architecture’s Center for Cultural Landscapes. This is an active center that hosts events, produces scholarships, and engages in participatory action research. The Center for Cultural Landscapes (CCL) Fiscal Technician is a full-time staff member who reports directly to the faculty director as her assistant and manages all financial processes for the Center staff.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the team and director calendars using Outlook and scheduling software
  • Support event logistics including guest itineraries, food ordering, and event set up
  • Make travel arrangements when necessary
  • Support overall fiscal needs related to subgrantees
  • Assist supervisor and faculty with the creation of budgets
  • Monitor the expenditures in assigned awards and projects to ensure adherence to budget allocation and spending guidelines, making corrections as needed
  • Advise and assist supervisors, faculty, and staff on financial matters as needed, providing up-to-date guidance on University financial policies and procedures
  • Oversee entry of all expenses and receipts, monthly reconciliations, Workday budget entry requests, cost transfers, and records maintenance for all organizational awards and projects
  • Prepare and post recurring, standard, and monthly journal entries, bank account reconciliations, and document discrepancies, ledger entries, original entries, reconciliations, and trial balances
  • Gather, compile, and evaluate financial, statistical, and operational data for reports to foundations and county, state, and federal agencies
  • Process billing and collection payments
  • Arrange for travel reimbursement
  • Guide registration in Pay Mode for consultants and vendors
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:

    High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience:

    3+ years of relevant professional experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree preferred
  • 5+ years of financial and administrative experience
  • Workday financial management experience preferred
  • Experience coordinating and managing calendars and travel arrangements, including scheduling, logistics, and itinerary planning
  • Microsoft Office Suite:
    Excel, Word, Outlook and Sharepoint
Physical Demands

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.

Anticipated Salary Range

is $52,000 - $55,000, commensurate with education and experience.

Position Type & Work Location

  • This is a restricted position, which is dependent on funding and is contingent upon funding availability.
  • This position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and must be performed fully on-site.
  • This role requires occasional evening and weekend work to support planned events
