Responsibilities
- Performs and participates in the decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment.
- Prepares and assembles surgical trays and equipment following established tray listings for issue storage or further processing (such as sterilization).
- Monitors and interprets all parameters for all types of sterilizers to ensure proper function (ETO Steam Steris and Sterrad).
- Cleans and decontaminates reusable equipment instruments and supplies manually and mechanically (Hand Washing Washer/Sterilizer Ultrasonic Cleaner Scope Washer Cart Washer).
- Participates in the coordination of all aspects of department's services.
- Serves as the resource for information for employees and customers.
- Models team behaviors to frontline employees.
- Manages departmental bar code system (SPMORMIS).
- Serves as preceptor in all areas of CSS (decontam, distribution, assembly and sterilizers).
- Must maintain a minimum of two advanced or specialty operations.
- In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Education:
High School Graduate or Equivalent.
Experience:
2 years of relevant experience preferred.
Licensure:
Certification RequirementsCertification as CRCST (Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician) through HSPA
OR
CSPDT (Central Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) through CBSPD
AND (1) additional following certification: CIS (Certified Instrument Specialist), CER (Certified Endoscope Reprocess), or CHL (Certified Healthcare Leader)

Physical DemandsJob requires sitting/standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/traveling and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills;
Attention to detail and ability to write legibly;
Ability to lift/push/pull 25-50lbs. Working in environment with fumes, chemicals, vibrations, heat, noise, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
$19.88 - $30.81 Hourly
