Ultrasound / Sonography, Medical Technologist & Lab Technician
Capable clinician, focused on expanding knowledge and skills. Responsible for providing patient services using medical ultrasound under the supervision of a physician responsible for the use and interpretation of ultrasound procedures. Provides effective direct care, as part of the interdisciplinary team, to a variety of complex patients. Assumes a beginning leadership role but seeks mentoring in this process.
Performs appropriate ultrasound and plethysmography procedures and records anatomical, pathological, and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician. Assists the physician in gathering sonographic data necessary to diagnose arterial and venous conditions and diseases and identify normal and abnormal flow dynamics. Obtains, reviews, and integrates pertinent patient medical history and supporting clinical data to facilitate optimum diagnostic results. Provides patient education related to medical ultrasound.
Records and processes sonographic data. Provides patient services in a variety of medical settings. Performs quality assurance checks on equipment, ensuring proper safety standards are met.
Position Compensation Range: $31.98 - $51.17 Hourly
QualificationsEducation: Must meet the education requirement for diagnostic medical ultrasound or echocardiography ultrasound certification with either CCI or ARDMS;
Associate's degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum two years clinical experience.
License/Certification: Credentials from ARDMS or CCI as a Registered Vascular Technologist or Registered Vascular Specialist required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
Physical Demands: Job requires standing and sitting for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping and traveling;
Repetitive motion:
Scanning involves holding a transducer in place on the patient's body for periods of time and maintaining the sonographer's body in position, allowing access to anatomy being scanned. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills;
Attention to detail and ability to write legibly;
Ability to lift/push/pull > 100lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, fumes, noise, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
