Community Services Associate B-Peer Support Specialist
The incumbent serves as a CSA III Peer Support Specialist for Family Recovery Court participants, a specialty court docket program that serves parents trying to regain custody of their children and primary reason for removal is related to a substance use disorder. The incumbent is responsible for providing individual and group peer support for consumers that are currently enrolled in the FRC program.
The Peer Support Specialist will provide services within the Project Link and Recovery Support program under the Adult Rehabilitative Services Center. The incumbent will work closely with the Family Recovery Court Coordinator, FRC Case manager, and FRC’s core trench team to develop and maintain program best practice standards. The incumbent uses his/her own life experience in order to coach and support consumers in active addiction learn how to build skills in order to maintain recovery in order to progress through the phases of Family Recovery Court.
In addition to individual and group peer support, the Peer Support Specialist will attend FPMs, FRC Road Map meetings, FRC court hearings, and DSS treatment team meetings to provide support to the participants as requested. The PRS is part of the multi-disciplinary trench team that support the Family Recovery Court program. The incumbent will work collaboratively with community partners such as local DSS offices, OAR, and J&D Relations Court to best support consumers being served in the specialty court program.
The incumbent reports directly to the Program Manager of Recovery Support Services. The incumbent is expected to perform duties as specified and according to the policies of Region Ten Community Services Board, as well as those of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS).
The incumbent will need to possess the following KSAs and meet the minimum requirements below.
Education- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services field, preferred
- 72-hour DBHDS Peer Support Specialist training completed prior to hiring preferred
- 1-year experience is preferred working (paid or unpaid) in a Peer Support role.
- Personal experience in recovery is required
- Sustained personal recovery is recommended.
- Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist is preferred at time of hire.
- Certification is required to be pursued within 1 year of employment.
