Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Clinical Infection Preventionist to join our team in Charlottesville, VA. This is a full time, Day shift position.
In this role you are responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of site‑specific infection prevention and control initiatives, and for the support of surveillance activities at the division and system level. Responsible for ensuring state, federal (i.e. Centers for Disease Control), regulatory and accreditation standards are met to include required communicable disease reporting. You will provide leadership and expertise to site‑specific administrative and clinical staff leadership through rounding, staff education and training, and promotion of evidence‑based/best practices to improve quality outcomes.

- Full-Time; 40 hours per week
- There may be local travel and On Call
- Bachelor's degree. (Preferred from an accredited university or college with emphasis in nursing, clinical quality improvement, microbiology, epidemiology or related field) required.
- Masters preferred
- Individuals who hold a license or certification are required to hold and maintain that credential.
- Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology (i.e. Certification in Infection Control, or CIC, preferred. Required within one year of eligibility.
- Two (2) years in healthcare required
- Two (2) years infection control and prevention
- Must possess expert knowledge of infection surveillance, prevention, and control standards and initiatives, as well as performance/process improvement concepts.
- Project management experience preferred.
