Travel Respiratory Therapist - Registered RT​/RRT

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week night shift assignment at a Level I/II trauma teaching hospital, requiring 4+ years of experience and Epic proficiency.

• RRT and BLS certifications required
• ACLS and ACCS certifications preferred
• Minimum 4 years of experience required; candidates with 2+ years may be considered
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required;
  Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• VA state license required (license required if applicable); pending license accepted if in-hand before start and candidate holds another active state license
• BSN preferred
• Experience with airway management, suctioning, chest physiotherapy, and ventilator weaning
• Two professional references required

• 13-week travel contract on the Respiratory/Neuro Diagnostics unit
• Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
• Works 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Must work 2 of 3 winter holidays
• Cares for adult critical care and emergency department patients
• Manages ventilators including BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV, and IMV
• Performs bronchoscopy, tracheostomy care, and ABG collection
• Administers medications via aerosol, MDI, and nebulizer delivery systems
• Uses Epic EMR
• Floats within scope of practice as needed
• Provides respiratory care for patients with ARDS, aspiration, pneumonia, and fresh tracheostomy
• Performs intubation/extubation assistance and oxygen therapy management
• Works as part of a critical care and emergency department team
• Specialty-specific orientation modules completed during onboarding
• No additional RTO approved after offer acceptance; maximum 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract
• Any pre-start vacation time must be disclosed prior to submission
• Previous UVA staff or travelers must have 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are ineligible to return after reaching this limit
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
