Job DescriptionThe Banquet Captain plays a critical leadership role in the execution of catered events for The Virginia Catering Company, a part of Aramark's UVA Dine. This position is responsible for ensuring the successful setup, execution, and breakdown of events, leading and supervising a team of banquet staff. The Banquet Captain will serve as the primary point of contact for clients during events, ensuring that all event details are executed flawlessly and that the highest standards of quality and service are maintained.

- Leadership and Supervision:
- Lead and motivate banquet staff, providing clear direction and support during events.
- Conduct pre-event briefings to review event details, assignments, and expectations.
- Train new and existing team members on service standards and safety protocols.
- Event Execution:
- Oversee the complete setup of banquet spaces, including tables, chairs, linens, place settings, and décor according to event orders.
- Ensure all food and beverage service is delivered efficiently and to the highest standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise during an event.
- Client Relations:
- Act as the main point of contact for the client, addressing all requests and concerns with professionalism.
- Anticipate client needs and proactively address them to ensure a positive experience.
- Event Closeout:
- Supervise the proper breakdown of the event space, including clearing tables, cleaning up, and inventory management.
- Ensure all equipment is properly stored and accounted for.
- Compliance:
- Enforce all Aramark policies, health and safety regulations, and alcohol service laws.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment at all times.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in a lead or supervisory role within a banquet, catering, or food service environment.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Knowledge of food and beverage service standards and practices.
