Data Engineer, Senior

Overview

Ever-expanding technology like IoT, machine learning, and artificial intelligence means there is more structured and unstructured data available today than ever before. As a Data Engineer at Booz Allen, you will help clients uncover insights from disparate data to drive missions—from fraud detection to cancer research to national intelligence.

• Deploy and develop pipelines and platforms that organize and make disparate data meaningful.
• Work with a multidisciplinary team of analysts, data engineers, developers, and data consumers in a fast‑paced, agile environment.
• Manage the assessment, design, build, and maintenance of scalable data platforms for clients.
• Use analytical exploration and data examination to support data‑driven decision‑making.

• 5+ years of experience in application development.
• 5+ years designing, developing, operationalizing, and maintaining complex data applications at enterprise scale.
• 3+ years creating software for retrieving, parsing, and processing structured and unstructured data.
• 3+ years building scalable ETL/ELT workflows for reporting and analytics.
• Experience creating solutions within a collaborative, cross‑functional team environment.
• Ability to develop scripts and programs for converting various types of data into usable formats and supporting project teams to scale, monitor, and operate data platforms.
• TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.

• Experience with Python, SQL, Scala, or Java.
• Experience with UNIX or Linux, including basic commands and shell scripting.
• Experience with a public cloud (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud).
• Experience with distributed data or computing tools (Spark, Databricks, Hadoop, Hive, AWS EMR, or Kafka).
• Experience working on real‑time data and streaming applications.

Salary range: $77,500 to $176,000 annualized USD. Full‑time and part‑time employees working at least 20 hours a week are eligible to participate in Booz Allen’s benefit programs; those who do not meet this threshold are only eligible for select offerings.
