Position Overview
Dev Sec Ops Engineer with an active TS/SCI security clearance to support our U.S. government customer. Requires developing, testing, and maintaining infrastructure and services for classified software applications.
Location:
Onsite in Charlottesville, VA.
- Manage and maintain microservice-based applications and their databases for DOD customers in a classified environment using Linux, Docker, and AWS.
- Troubleshoot and provide service to application users; work with network and infrastructure teams to ensure services are available, stable, and performant.
- Periodically run ingestion scripts to import data from related DOD API endpoints to update required data.
- Provide scripting and tool support for UNIX and Linux operating systems.
- Work with a supporting team of software engineers who develop in an unclassified environment to update, troubleshoot, and improve the application services and their data stores.
- Administer continuous integration, testing, and deployment of application code from the unclassified to various classified environments.
- Perform the necessary security requirements inherent to code developed in an unclassified environment and deployed to a classified environment.
- Manage underlying infrastructure using Amazon Web Services (AWS) – both UI and command line/API interfaces.
- Maintain secure environment (e.g., SSL/TLS certificates), run security scans, manage database access, etc.
- Assist and facilitate in ISSO related tasks for successful ATO accomplishment.
- Solid Linux command line skills to diagnose and debug services, data stores, virtual machines, containers, etc. (RHEL/CentOS
7). - Experience running ingestion scripts, SQL/No
SQL updates, managing Terraform/Cloud Formation, Docker‑compose, Jenkins builds, and Git-based tools. - Continuous integration experience using Jenkins, Git, JIRA, etc.
- Basic familiarity with databases such as Postgres (RDS), Mongo (No
SQL), and search (Elasticsearch/AWS). Ability to update data via command line when necessary. - Knowledge of containerization and future goals to move to ECS, Kubernetes, or similar.
- Experience troubleshooting RHEL systems and application problems; facilitate necessary corrective actions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of RHEL system administration, user and security management tools.
- AWS experience with RDS, Document
DB, EC2, Cloud Formation/Terraform, etc. - Shell scripting ability.
- Capability to research problems and contact/escalate issues with third‑party hardware and software providers.
- Communication and customer service skills to interact with customers and other contractors.
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle and general Dev Ops practices.
- Documentation and technical writing skills.
- Architectural analysis skills.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferably a degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field.
- Six or more years of experience in a client‑server environment.
- Experience with complex systems administration, database administration, and landscape maintenance.
- Experience with company products and services as well as documentation and storage procedures.
- Experience with complex system implementations and organizational processes.
- All developers supporting integration and testing or requiring server‑level access must complete DoD Directive 8570 mandated Technical Level 1 certification within 30 business days after contract award and maintain administrative accounts.
- Must have an active TS/SCI security clearance and pass CI polygraph.
