Position: IT Manager at Virginia Guesthouse Charlottesville, VA

Overview

As the IT Property Manager, you are responsible for the overall planning, implementation, and management of technology systems and infrastructure at our luxury resort. This includes oversight of network operations, property systems (PMS, POS, guest Wi‑Fi, etc.), and cybersecurity, as well as hands‑on A/V support and technology sales for group functions and events. You will act as the key technology liaison between hotel departments and external vendors to ensure smooth, secure, and efficient operation of all systems that impact the guest and employee experience.

FunctionsIT Systems Management & Strategy
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with property goals.
  • Lead the design, maintenance, and continual improvement of the hotel’s IT infrastructure including servers, networks, databases, and telecommunications.
  • Ensure systems are operational 24/7 through preventative maintenance, monitoring, and vendor coordination.
  • Identify, evaluate, and deploy new technologies that enhance operational efficiency and guest satisfaction.
  • Ensure the security, integrity, and confidentiality of all hotel data and systems in compliance with data privacy laws.
Audio Visual Sales & Event Support
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for A/V needs for meetings, events, and group functions.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Events teams to recommend, quote, and deliver appropriate technology and A/V solutions.
  • Set up and operate A/V equipment, troubleshoot issues during events, and ensure all technological needs are met with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Maintain and inventory all A/V equipment and provide hands‑on support for live presentations, hybrid meetings, and multimedia experiences.
Technical Support & Service Culture
  • Provide responsive, hands‑on support to hotel staff and guests, ensuring all users have access to functional systems and necessary training.
  • Establish and enforce service standards, ensuring timely issue resolution and a customer‑first approach.
  • Train and empower team members to use property systems effectively.
Vendor & Budget Management
  • Manage IT‑related contracts, vendors, and service level agreements to ensure quality and cost efficiency.
  • Monitor IT expenses and maintain budget oversight.
  • Recommend capital improvement projects and manage implementation.
Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years in an IT leadership role, preferably in hospitality.
  • Experience with hospitality systems (PMS, POS, PBX, IPTV, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of network management, cybersecurity, and system integration.
  • Prior experience providing A/V support and quoting A/V solutions for events or groups.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non‑technical users.
  • Proven leadership in managing vendors, contractors, and project timelines.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Physical Requirements
  • Flexible work schedule, including occasional nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs regularly.
  • Ability to walk the property, inspect hardware installations, and assist with physical setup of equipment.

This role will work both in a traditional office setting and throughout the property, including meeting rooms, event spaces, guest service areas, and exterior locations. You must be comfortable multitasking, responding quickly to on‑site needs, and navigating both team collaboration and independent problem‑solving.
